The last time the local music scene saw Daniel Deitrich, he was fronting the Lakeshore-based indie rock band Johnny’s Little Rocketship. JLR made its rounds around the state and the region before finally breaking up — truly a sad day for many, as there has always been a relative shortage of quality indie bands west of Kalamazoo.
However, Deitrich has pressed on with a solo career, just recently releasing an EP entitled “Matter”. Deitrich, whose EP features full band work throughout, released the album on Saturday at The Livery in Benton Harbor. He was shrouded by a familiar cast of characters as his back-up band — members of Johnny’s Little Rocketship.
“It’s been a lot of fun playing together again,” Deitrich quipped.
Maintaining a lot of that JLR vibe, fans of the defunct project will certainly take a liking to the new sound. Make sure you take a gander at our upcoming April issue of NOISE! Magazine for a full review of “Matter”. For more information on Deitrich, catch him on his Facebook page.
