You seem to have a rather strong opinion on this, so allow me to clarify some things that may not have been brought up in this article. First off, as far as the formation of the group being a “laborious” process: there is nothing difficult about forming a Facebook page, we agree. All my friend Justin and I mean is that we just wanted to make sure we did this right, as opposed to quickly forming some lame page that fizzled out amongst every other music page. Secondly, I agree completely with you, groups like this can form cliques; something WE want to avoid (hence why we took a little more time to plan what we wanted to do). While there are “member bands,” ALL bands are able to take advantage of any opportunities we strive to produce. Even so, take a look at the qualifications yourself; they really aren’t that “stringent.” We look forward to accepting every single band we can. If there was ever a sense that we were hurting the music scene, the group would disband because that isn’t what we want. At all. Hopefully, this helps a little. I like how today, anyone with a Facebook group or blog forms their own “music collective” or “music publication” (sorry WMN). First of all, they act like it’s this laborious process that they’re undertaking for the greater good of the music scene. Facebook and blog accounts are free. There is no sacrifice there.

Furthermore, it fragments the scene into cliques, which quite possibly is the biggest cancer to a “united scene” as there is. I like music, but even I am at an overload on all these web sites.
