And then there were two.

Battle Creek’s progressive rock band King of the Forest has now been whittled down to two of its founding members — Michelle Russell and Joe Klein — but the group is forging ahead to release a follow-up 2010′s release “Intensive”.

The band’s previous release was said to be a little more diverse, ushering pinches of funk and reggae, and this time around, King of the Forest is promising straight forward lyrics and songs that pull you in immediately.

With the last two standing musicians putting in most of the leg work on the forthcoming album, they’ll seek the aid from a number of guests in the local scene to flesh things out. With the lineup change and the prospect of what is to come upon the release, makes this album pretty appealing.
